Joy Icon #2 - Snail
In "Joy Icon #2: Snail," the rebirth of self is celebrated and the rediscovery of delight through small acts and reflective creativity. Having found myself submerged in the depths of adulthood and its accompanying responsibilities, I experienced a transformation beneath the weight of silence that single motherhood and the isolation of a global pandemic cast upon me.
It was in the unassuming moments afforded by a quieter world that we cultivated presence—a conscious awareness of a world slowed to the pace of a snail's meandering journey.
Beside my daughter, my shining star and co-explorer in the vast landscape of imagination, we dug through the garden looking for snails. We kept them in a cozy snail habitat and watched them grow. At that moment, the snail became yet another Joy Icon.
"Joy Icon #2: Snail" emerges as an emblem of enduring strength and contentment found within life's search for that snail shell with a perfect fit. With its spiral shell, the snail symbolizes the journey to the center—the heart of what matters. It grounds us, reminding us that progress need not be measured in leaps and bounds, but in the consistent, tireless effort that compounds over time.
