About the Art

Artist Statement by Dooley

Joy Icon #1: African Milk Tree, Euphorbia trigona 'rubra'

Submerged beneath the waves of adulthood, my identity as a fine artist lay dormant for many years.  It has reawakened slowly.

During the silence of single motherhood and COVID isolation, quiet moments were the constant and forced me to become more present and enjoy the small things in life.

My art summoned me back to life. Side by side with my daughter, making art and exploring the world, I found solace and inspiration in the small, steady acts of creation.

My first print of the Joy Icon series, was the Joy Icon #1 (African Milk Tree, Euphorbia trigona 'rubra'). Plants make me happy. This one in particular. I hope it brings joy to your life also.

This limited series of eight prints is the materialization of my rediscovered joy, my testament to the power of art to heal, to connect, to transform.
